I just got my Peek today! (an aqua v1.04.00)
I'd like to be able to get any @ messages send to me. On Twitter I mean.
even if i have to "call for" them, if you know what I mean.
Is there a way to do that?

    Thanks
    Ruthie

Twittermail handles your tweets and also handles @ messages. It's sort of a relay system.
    1. You send email to special secret email address. Example: me@twittermail.com
    2. Then it forwards that mail as post to your twitter page.
    3. Any @ msgs come back to your Peek as an standard email.

    dan,
    it does 1 and 2
but it only does three every one and half days. In twitter time that's an eternity.
im using twittermail to SEND messages, and thats's wicked easy.
also using ping.fm to post to twitter, mypsace and facebook all at once.

I went with Twitapps. i have it now to send me a @ msgs ever 3 minutes or every 1 which every comes first ;-) works like a charm ;-) http://twitapps.com/

I, of course, found it after i posted here. but maybe others can get some use with it ;-)

@ Ruthie: Not sure if this is what you're shooting for but, you can get the latest updates from a Twitter account by using Ent - To: ent@retroforth.org. Put [twitter username] without the brackets in the "Subject" field and click "Send".

Can one of you Twitter-geeks explain something to me....Twitter works with SMS but not email?????

That just is not right! Twitter should appreciate how many of us are email-mobile as opposed to sms-mobile.

Im sure as with anything if enough people asked for it they would develop an interface.

Besides, part of twitter's success is that it has had a public API available almost since its inception. That has caused a HUGE ecosystem of products and services to grow up around it (hopefully the Peek will be another). So, if twitter doesn't offer it, perhaps someone else will (and often does).

Texting is WAY more ubiquitous that mobile email so they went with that option.

However, remailers sprung up to handle those that only have mobile email and dedicated apps (come ooooonnnnn, Peek) cover a lot of other people with smart phones that support apps but have limited texting/email plans or interfaces.

pam: not yet. I've focused mostly on IRC, since that's the chat system I use more than any other. Google Talk was my second priority; once I get enough spare time to sit down and finish debugging it, I'll do so. Twitter is next after the Google Talk code gets a little more stable.

OK, we're getting there. And at the speed you usually work.. I'd guess we're talking about a handful of months. Not too far away.

I think the next version of Peek, as its been said, should TOTALLY have a Twitter App. A facebook app would be cool too, but I don't care so much about that one.

@cargojcak - @lumpygirl2002 the vast majority of people still use twitter via the regular website. at least last time I looked at any stats thats how it was. :-)

    @crc - sweet! :-)

So I figured out a way to unsecure my twitter rss feed, but I can't find an rss->email service that sends more than a single digest once a day.

    Any ideas?

Actually might have found it as part of another service. I'm going to start a different thread because it is more than just twitter.
