I have heard from a friend/co-worker that T-Mobile is going to shut down for good. How is this going to affect Peek's services?

Actually T-Mobile is getting bigger than ever. Coverage is almost as good as Verizon's.
Reports of T-Mobile's demise are greatly exaggerated. And with Google's new My Touch/T-Mobile selling @ all Walmarts, I see a bright future for T-Mobile.

There is a good chance that T-Mobile will be bought by another carrier ( probably AT&T ) but they are not going out of business.

They are totally owned by the BIG German Telephone company Deutsche Telekom. There is a LOT of money behind them.

I doubt Tmob would be bought by ATT since Tmob leases their service from ATT. They'd lose a lot of revenue.

I think your friend got T-Mobile confused with Virgin Mobile. Virgin Mobile is being bought out by Sprint and T-Mobile has plans to buy out Sprint.

Only thing I know about T-Mobile is they are really slacking on email delivering to Sidekicks. Seems they are taking it easy on their servers and only doing a pull hourly rather than in real time. Tmail accounts are slightly faster, but if you like to use a real email account that doesn't limit you to such little storage and annoying bouncebacks to people trying to email you, then you are screwed, at least temporarily. Had to hook my boss up with a Peek, at least for the time being.

    let's get some facts.

    1) The Sidekick servers are NOT run or in any T-mobile office. Sidekick servers are run by a Fuji (yes those guys) that microsoft sub contracts, so don't blame t-mobile for it.

    2) T-mobile the word wide company is 10 times bigger than little AT&T why would the big be bought out by the big.

Please please check your sources! jeesh!

Cargojack: you can use it internationally, but the international roaming addon is pricey.
