Just realized I haven't gotten any new emails from gmail for about 90 minutes (about 20 emails are sitting on my gmail account that haven't come through). Still getting updates from things like Peek Social so it looks like it may be an issue with gmail. The same thing is happening to my wifes Peek. Anyone else experiencing this? I've rebooted each one a few times.

And I should say that it appears I have no problems emailing out through gmail on my Peek either. Just nothing coming back through them.

I can't confirm because I loaned my Peek out to a friend for the weekend. (He's using it to tweet a high school football game tonight)

Just used hotmail on my Peek with no problems. So, it is looking like a gmail problem or maybe a lag issue since I reset my Peeks maybe?

There is often a delay after activation / re-activation of an email address, I hear.

    No problems here.

Try archiving one message, and then moving it back to the inbox again.

The weird thing is that PeekSocial updates are still coming in once an hour and they are being sent to my gmail account. So... some gmail messages are coming through? That doesn't make any sense.... and it is doing it on both Peeks. LOL

    @Eric - Please try deleting/re-adding the account.

Peek Manager > Email Accounts > Click the wheel to delete, then add.

Deleted and re-added and it appears they are working again. Of course they worked for a few hours after I updated the software and then they both just stopped getting some of the emails. Should know in the morning if it is good to go again.

Doesn't appear that that fixed it. It worked fine for several hours again and then stopped getting new emails except for PeekSocial. Looks like it did it on both Peeks at about the same time too.

Just got off the phone with Peek Care and after about 15 minutes got it working again by doing a complete reset again. He said there have been some issues with gmail lately and to let them know if anyone continues having problems. Will see if this one holds as the two previous resets only seemed to fix the problem for about 3 or 4 hours.

Peek Care informed that the problem continues and they said they were going to let their server people know. A few minutes later my wifes Peek started getting gmail again (mine did too but I had already reset it) so maybe it is fixed. Will update if anything changes... btw, this forum keeps crashing on me. Anyone else having issues with that too? Just not my day for doing stuff with Peek I think.

Just so you know, I think Care is permanently trained to say "oh, we've had problems with Gmail lately" to almost any problem it might be somewhat relevant to.

ROFL... you could be right. All other email worked (yahoo, hotmail, etc.) and I could send out on gmail but just nothing coming in from gmail. It has been up for close to 3 hours I think now and the only thing I've noticed is a bit of lag here and there (about 5 to 6 minutes). I'm hoping it stays working this time. I'm tired of deleting my email accounts and re-adding them back in.

@Tom - if it happens again I'll be sure and do that. Has been somewhat stable for almost 3 hours now I think, so it may be ok now. And as far as I can tell even the lag in receiving gmail is gone (has gone from about 6 minutes to a minute)... of course I say that and it will probably stop working in the next 5 minutes. LOL

I just verified the problem is specific to Gmail.

    Here's my kludge:

    1. Setup my Yahoo mail account on my Peek.
    2. Set my Gmail account to forward a copy to Yahoo.
    3. Set the "reply to" address on my Yahoo account to my Gmail address.

I'm not sure if the "reply to" setting will have any effect though since I'm using the Peek as the client.

@hstravel - When we originally launched, we were open 7 days a week as call volume was really high. However, things have settled and we are now only open Mon - Sat 9am EST to 9pm EST. However, we only have about 4 of the team covering Saturday...so your hold time may vary.

My hold time was next to nothing the two times I had to call yesterday. Extremely polite workers as well. Just weren't able to help as they said they had to elevate the matter to the "server guys". Not sure if you guys have the "server guys" working on Saturdays because I was told it would probably not hear anything until Monday at the earliest.

I think it has to do with new activation/reactivation as I had zero problems (other than losing my signal and not getting it back without restarting) with gmail on either Peek before the software update and reactivation.

@tmel - What is the status on this? I got your email this morning stating you'd be looking into it and within 30 minutes or so I was receiving duplicate emails so I figured it was fixed (one email when a message hit my gmail account/the other from hotmail that I had gmail forwarding to as a work around). Since I wasn't able to access gmail at work (government computers and their stupid rules) I couldn't turn off my forwarding to see if gmail alone was working.

I got home a few minutes ago and turned it off and stopped getting anything again but I then got a bunch of old emails (it has been doing this all day) coming in like Peek is attempting to catch up in time (it is actually kind of amusing as I just got the email you sent this morning again). I'm currently getting emails from 7 hours ago (as I said, I did already get these emails at the correct time this morning, it appears to be resending them as it catches up.... I think). Turned forwarding back on and sent a test message and got it again (with duplicate). Then I got my "non-forwarded email" so I'm not sure if it is working again.

So, is this just a case of me having to wait until the old emails catch up and gmail is actually working again? If so, is there any way to speed up the old emails so I can stop reliving my day like I'm Bill Murray and I don't need to drive Punxsutawney Phil off a cliff to end the insanity?

Edit: After a few more tests it does appear that gmail is functioning fine now on both of my Peeks. So, the main question is the part about speeding up the old emails so I only get the new ones. Also, if you don't mind me asking, what was the problem with gmail and in the future it would be great if there is a problem and it is fixed if someone could send off a quick email letting us know it is fixed.

@Eric - We did receive some reports this morning between 10am - 11am PST about Gmail dupes. Believe we have corrected the issue in a timely manner.

We have also discovered the root cause of the issues with Gmail due to the many examples you all sent me, thanks!

It's not very wide-spread and we are continuing to monitor the situation closely. Should anything catch fire......Gabe is first to go in!

Re-adding didn't fix the old emails coming in, but at least they look like they may be catching up. The latest old email to come in is only 15 minutes old now so hopefully it will catch up soon. Just wonder if when it catches up if I'll start receiving emails from the future.

I wish I could go into the future so I'd know when the duplicate emails will stop. It seems that now that the old emails coming in has caught up with the present they have decided to remind me of what the previous email said two to five minutes later.

Sweet mama jama.... the duplicate emails have stopped!!! On another note, while I wasn't tied to my desk at work for as long today, the short amount of time I was there did allow me to try out the new Peek software (1.09.18) in between all the duplicate emails.

My observations so far are that I think the problems I was having aren't as prevalent as before. I noticed at one point today that my signal strength was at nothing (red x) and as soon as I moved a bit the signal came back and I had no problems getting new emails (lots of new emails with all the duplicates and old emails coming in).

Will take a few more days of testing to see if my problems are gone (or at the least highly diminished). Fingers crossed that they are.

I resorted to completely wiping my Peek out again last night and starting over as I couldn't shake those stupid duplicate emails. It fixed the problem with the duplicates but ended up losing my gmail again a few hours later. Sent Tom an email around midnight (I was half asleep) about it not working and a few hours later I heard my Peek spazzing due to the massive influx of emails flying in. As far as I can tell it is working good now. No more duplicates and my emails seem to be on time (generally speaking). Also had more of an opportunity to test out the new software at my desk today and noticed a vast improvement when it comes to changing your signal coverage. Looking good now as far as I can tell.
