Another update since the software update:

My wifes Peek seemed to get the hidden red x sometime yesterday afternoon. We had to attend a meeting this morning and she shut off her Peek. The meeting was over a few hours ago and I just remembered to turn her Peek back on and it started jackhammering away with a flood of new messages coming in. I looked and it appeared that she hadn't gotten anything from about 6pm the day before. It is sitting on my desk vibrating away as it tries to catch up on the past 18 hours worth of email. --One strike on the new software as it appears the old bug is still possible to experience. Not sure how she actually was in a bad coverage area either as she had left her purse with the Peek inside in the car overnight so I know there was nothing getting in the way of the signal (like building walls).

As I was looking at my wifes Peek just now I started getting a lot of new emails myself and noticed that what was coming in was 40 minutes old. My Peek wasn't off (I just turned off the sound) during the meeting and we've been home for a few hours now and my signal has been showing full strength the entire time we've been home. So, not sure if it was a hidden red x or just some serious lag on Peek/gmails side. --Half a strike on the new software as I don't know what caused the 40 minute delay.

Fingers crossed that this was an isolated incident (as I continue to listen to my wifes Peek vibrate away on my desk).

    Todays update:

My wifes Peek seemed to have the hidden red x again sometime around noon today. She and I have been home most of the day so haven't really needed to use them but I find it odd that hers seemed to have a problem but mine didn't and they are in the same location.

Was there an outage or something today? I saw someone else mention having issues with theirs today as well. How could one Peek have no problems all day long and one sitting right next to it go 8 hours without receiving anything until I rebooted it?

I had to delete and readd my gmail account before I could receive messages. Sending has worked ok though.

To be honest, I think we may have just gotten a bad Peek for my wife. We've had more issues with hers than mine the entire time we've had them. I'm about to see how far I can punt a Peek down the road. Or maybe I can do like the guy on youtube and see if it blends and shove it in my blender!

I've had my fair (and unfair) share of troubles with my Peeks but I wouldn't get discouraged this fast if I were you. The Peek staff generally tries to be helpful so if you have a problem make sure you seek their help (their phone support is closed until Monday though). Tmel usually is on the forums trying to help folks so you may get lucky and catch him online tonight or tomorrow and get a little assistance.

@tmel - Any plans to bring back Sunday Customer Support ?

All the cell phone companies offer CS 24/7 ? Things can break at anytime and users like to get things fixed.

@hdtravel - Yes, you're right. Things can break at anytime!

We have recently increased the staffing a ton on Saturdays and we'll see how it works out.

I am the unofficial 24/7 support!

@hdtravel That is very untrue. I can't speak for all carriers but at the very least Verizon is not 24/7 last I checked (more like 8-5 M-F or something), and they're no "little guy".

Was experiencing about a 30 minute delay on my emails so I restarted my Peek and they all came flying in. Is this supposed to happen? It wasn't really a red x type thing as I was still getting messages in the whole time... just delayed (plus my signal strength was really good and it varied when moved unlike when I used to get the red x). Why would restarting my Peek make it suddenly "catch up"?

Actually, I'm still experiencing long delays even after starting. Sent a few test messages and it has been at least 15 minutes and they haven't arrived yet. Anyone else having issues?

After 45 minutes, my test messages came back. Going to send a few more to see if they are delayed.

When I get the red X, usually turning off my Peek and turning it back on fixes it.

I'm speculating that Peek has a hard time deciding when it should switch networks.

I know that turning the Peek on and off "fixes" the red x issue. Personally, I don't really consider that a fix though. Thankfully, it doesn't happen as often since I updated to the latest software, but it does still happen.
