I agree, it is kinda silly to be Twitter specific and "lifetime" won't be that long so the price is ridiculous. Would've been better to give everyone who owns a Peek an upgrade for Twitter Social of some sort to go along with our email, texting, and FaceBooking.
I assume though, it would be an excellent way to gather up all the thousands of 1.04 & 1.07 Peeks in warehouses and that have been gathering dust in all the Targets around the country and turning them into something people may buy, especially since people are exceptionally Twitter crazy for the moment. But, this too shall pass.

Peeks are sitting in warehouses gathering dust? Since when? The company's still afloat for selling something that isn't considered "something people may buy"...

If things are so good for Peek, why did Target pull all the Peeks from their stores and discontinue selling them in their stores ?

No one has addressed this issue. Target has thousands of stores nationwide. This had to be a big stab to Peek to lose all these retail locations.

How come we do not see Peek in Wal-Mart the nations largest retailer ? Explain this ?

No Peeks at Walmart is actually an easy question to answer. Walmart has some of the toughest negotiators on the planet. Companies are compelled not only to bend over and sell goods at the lowest possible price to the big W, they're expected to REDUCE THEIR WHOLESALE PRICE at fairly regular intervals, whether or not their actual manufacturing costs have declined.

Given the thin margins on Peek hardware (it's the service, not the device), I can see why the professional Peeksters made a business decision not to deal with Walmart until they had a proven business model and could hold a tougher line in contract negotiations. Otherwise, Peek could have ended up forced down the Crazy Eddie path of economics--"We lose a little bit on every Peek we sell through Walmart, but we make it up with volume." Other, bigger, companies have lost significant amounts of money selling products through Walmart, even though unit sales were strong.

Wal-Mart is the WORLD'S largest retailer.

Good, bad, or otherwise, you cannot ignore them.

So what if you sell the Peek for one penny. Peek makes their money on the monthly service charge, not the hardware. Peek staff has said this on numerous posts on this board. The monthly service charge is very lucrative for them as they buy the data from T-Mobile in bulk. You pay them $20 and they pay T-Mobile like $2 bucks.

Just think of the business Peek could get if it sold them at all the thousands and thousands of Wal-Mart's out there. It would be huge !!

Wal-Mart has started their own cell phone business StraightTalk ( www.straighttalk.com ) which is a joint venture of Wal-Mart, TracFone, and Verizon and people are switching over in droves. What about a partnership between Wal-Mart and Peek for a email device ? Could happen ? Could be big business ? Who would have thought Wal-Mart would get into the cell phone business and undercut every other carrier out there ?

They drive prices lower for the consumer. This is good. Who does not like to pay less ? I certainly do !
