Hey there, Peeksters! Just curious if there's been any word yet on whether or not I'll be able to reflash my Peek Pronto into a TwitterPeek using the upgrade cable. I canceled my Peek service after a month after realizing that I simply didn't use email enough to justify the expense, but I'm a big enough Twitter addict that I could definitely see reactivating for that feature alone.

( And no, I'm not especially interested in the various email feed solutions out there; too clunky! )

    Thanks,
    apo

We will NOT be making the Twitter Peek software public for self-reflashing.

We do not currently have a specific process in place for Pronto -> Twitter upgrades. However, if you are willing to lose ALL email/text functionality we will happily have you send your device to our NY office for a reflash to Twitter Peek.

Please shoot me an email, tmel@getpeek.com and I will check with my guys and see what we can do to get you Twittering! (I used to hate Twitter with a passion, but Twitter Peek is just so damn cool!)

Usually I'd say something like this:

"You know that's only going to last a limited time.

Pretty soon someone will figure out how to read the ROM from a Twitter Peek, then it's just a matter of writing a boot loader to switch between the two ROMs."

However, in the case of the Peek, there doesn't seem to be a lot of hacking interest.

I think it has a lot to do with the limited resources the Peek has.

Probably more related to how hard it is – The hardware is very special.
