I unboxed my Pronto yesterday, activated, and something must be horribly wrong...

It won't properly connect either to my Gmail Apps domain (after calling and having them add it) or my standard @gmail.com account. The most I've seen is about 1/2 of my unread messages come through. I've reset the device, power cycled, tried variations of pulling the battery / recycling.

I've gone as far as to create a brand new gmail.com account, fully reset the device, add ONLY the brand new gmail.com account, and send that account a test message. It's been about 12 hours, and I still see that one message as new at gmail.com, but my Peek shows no messages in the INBOX. I read somewhere in the forums that a gmail.com patch is going into place today, maybe that will fix it...

Peek Maps - one of the features I was most looking forward to - updated once. No updates in 13 hours.

Peek Feeds - not working. I still can't figure out how to get an hourly digest of my Twitter timeline in my inbox - again, a feature I was looking forward to.

I'm hoping that I get somewhere with this. I'd love for it to work!

Hey Mattopia! Just checked your map and says that your location is updated as of 25 minutes ago (sometime if you stay put for a while, the "last updated" might not update.

Feel free to shoot me an email if you notice anything else amiss. mark [at] peekmaps.com

Hi Mark - thanks! I just read another thread that says sometimes the "last updated" doesn't update if you're not moving around much, so I'll have to do some moving around and see how it works. Thanks for the note!

@Mattopia: It took me more than a week before Gmail was working, and there is supposed to be a patch to their servers sometime today that should fix some Gmail problems. Hopefully, that patch will solve your problems.

Maybe it's just my account, but my twitter PeekFeed has been totally unreliable for the past month. I have it set to check hourly, but i get maybe one or two emails per day. So perhaps it's the PeekFeed service and not your device.

@hnl_blues PeekFeed was the same way for me, so I dropped it for xFruits (www.xfruits.com)

Well, tmel and I went off-thread and he was able to get my email working. I'm now getting messages in under 2 minutes generally. Thanks!!

Mark is also helping me with maps, so we'll see how that goes.

Seems PeekFeed is simply unreliable based on reports here. I have it set for once an hour, and I've received one email in ~2 days.. I'm looking at xfruits but I can't seem to make it pull my twitter timeline. Any suggestions?

Meaning, all the users you are following? I'm not sure Twitter has an RSS feed for that, and xfruits uses RSS. But I was pretty sure PeekFeed used the same thing.

Are you talking about one list for every user you follow? Or a separate feed for each user?

One list for my entire timeline (every user i follow). There is an RSS feed, but you have to put in your username/password which seems to be where most RSS feeders choke.

Not sure if this one will help but I've used it for RSS feeds before and it is very dependable: http://www.feedmyinbox.com/

Can you do something like http://username.password@www.twitter.com/the-feed.rss? I know I did that with FTP a long time ago.

Just another update, as I'd like people deciding whether to buy or not to be dissuaded by my first post.

After receiving help in this thread and off forum, Gmail seems to be working perfectly with both my @gmail.com account and my Apps for Domains account now. Maps are not perfect but much more reliable, I think having email working right has helped that as well in some way.

@darkxsun I tried specifying the http authentication in the URL like that, everything I've tried pukes with that though. Seems RSS feeders just don't support HTTP auth (except the purpose built peekfeeds). I will check out the twitter timeline emailier though!

Peekfeeds are starting to come through sometimes, and sending @timeline to entx@retroforth.org now that I am set up there lets me get it on demand. I'd still like to see Twitter/Facebook more integrated than it is currently. It's a little tacked on, but it's a first step.

Overall I'm much happier now, and I appreciate everyone (especially tmel) who has helped me so far.
