    Peeksters,
As usual we have a couple things cooking in the Peek oven. We're looking for Peeksters that use Twitter a lot.

If you think you fit the bill, email twitter@getpeek.com with your twitter username in the body.

    Thanks!

Hey, that sounds interesting. I've been using Brightkite to bridge updates onto Twitter via email. A lot has been broken/flaky since BK upgraded. Lemmie grab my Peek...
  1.
Ive been using twitter...trying to anyway. I use tweetbymail.com to bridge but have only found more issues, Half the time my post dont dont and 90% of the time I get mulitpules so dont use tweetbymail lol.
  2.
twitter support is just the thing that I need to convince like ten of my friends to get peek

Hmm.. do you need people who tweet alot or check their feed a lot? Some days I tweet several times, some days I don't tweet at all - but I check my feed quite a bit. I may tweet more if I had it on the go in my Peek, i'm not sure - I've never had twitter on a mobile device. Still, I so want in on this program.

I use "ping.fm" to update all my social sites at one time including twitter, blogger, facebook, myspace, and yahoo360. It works pretty well. The way it works:

    (1) they give you a random_email_address@ping.fm
    (2) you register your desired social networks (twitter included)
    (3) send an email to your random_email_address@ping.fm with your micro blog comments. Long URLS are shortened automatically

    Works great for me.

I use twittermail to update Twitter from my Peek.

    http://www.twittermail.com/

It can use just the subject line or the body, ignore signatures, and several other options.

@bellewitch: You can use ping.fm to update twitter alone, actually. Take a look here: https://pingfm.pbworks.com/Posting-Groups. Just make a group that only includes twitter. Alternatively, you could set all your other social groups in pinf.fm to not include microblogging and then use the microblog method to update twitter as seen here: https://pingfm.pbworks.com/Posting-Methods

Making ping.fm what shift+s is for would be wonderful. Then we would have simple control of all popular social status/microblogging from our peeks.

    Now it all makes sense:

    http://www.crunchgear.com/2009/10/27/peek-goes-twitter-and-is-now-available-at-blockbuster/

Is that new theme really going to happen or is it just for advertising?

Also I'm assuming what you really want is for the tag line to say "Sent form Peek xxxx minutes ago."

    Good free advertising.

A lot of good questions brought up in the comments of that link andy. Doesn't say if it will work with e-mail as well as Twitter and I notice that they say $15 a month instead of $20.

It appears to be a Twitter-only Peek, for $7.95 a month.

    http://www.amazon.com/TwitterPeek-Mobile-Tweeting-Service-Included/dp/B002R5AG4Q/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1256680314&sr=8-2-catcorr

That seems like a really specialized device to me, odd that they didn't include email with it.

Y'know, it'd be really cool if Peek could offer the Twitter application (Peekux Twitter Edition?) to existing Peeksters. Meanwhile, include the existing e-mail application as an unlockable upgrade on the Twitter Peeks. That way, a Twitter Peek buyer making an impulse purchase for $7.95/month could upgrade to the full e-mail Peek experience simply by making a phone call to Peek customer care!

As for the Twitter Peek idea itself, I think it's great and proves (again) that Twitter is just e-mail that's got "To: World" set by default on all new messages!

Seriously chill (and, "nao"? Is this 4chan?)

I was pretty sure the task at hand was testing some new Twitter integration with the current Peek, not "converting" our Peeks into Twitter boxes.

You'd really rather have *just* Twitter than have email (which you can use Twitter through)?

I use Twitter with 2 accounts and have found the Facebook/Twitter Peek App's good. A Peek for email and a Peek for twits? Can there be just one? I would be willing to buy a new Peek if it did Email/SMS/Twitter/Facebook all instead of separate devices.

Bummer. I was hoping there would be a similar process that changed Peek Classic to Peek Pronto since its really just the same hardware. I do realize that its not an upgrade, but more of a crossgrade, changer upperer, twittergrade... I could go on and on.

If you have a Peek Pronto you're not left on the sidelines to access Twitter from your Peek. You can use ping.fm to update Twitter and Peek Feed to pull down your stream.

Check out http://ping.fm and http://www.getpeek.com/apps for Peek Feed.

You'll use shift-s from the inbox to update your status

    Thanks

TwitterPeek offers one key benefit versus Pronto + PeekFeed ... TwitPic. With TwitterPeek, one can view photos from TwitPic, probably similar to how we existing Peeksters can open an attachment.

Suggestion to Gabe: can you allow existing Peeksters to set up a new @mypeekemail.com that can receive individual tweets as messages delivered to that account? That way, a tweet that has a TwitPic link can have the photo be added automatically as an attachment to the message deposited in the @mypeekemail.com account. Correspondingly, new emails from the @mypeekemail.com account can be posted directly to Twitter as tweets. Perhaps messages >140 characters can be chopped into multiple tweets since the Peek Pronto does not have a character counter.

So... I'm sensing the whole Twitter Social for Peek experiment is dead for our Prontos?
If we can have FaceBook Social built into our Peeks, why not like shift+T for Twitter Social?
Would be so much nicer to have it added by Peek than to have to rely on ping.fm & twittermail etc.

Just got my TwitterPeek today. This thing is sick. Was kinda hoping that it would be some nonsense so that I wouldn't have two devices that I couldn't be without.

But this thing is sick. I WARN YOU, Get a TwitterPeek and you're going to be an addict. ADVICE: Probably one of the best gift to give this x-mas.

I agree with @srandall It is awesome! I am having one problem though. The links in tweets do not work. It says "Sorry, we're having trouble displaying this attachment. Please visit us at www.twitterpeek.com for help". Is anyone else having this trouble? I have tried it with at least 10 different links. Same thing every time.

By-The-Way, in testing the TwitterPeek today I discovered that this thing is blazingly fast. I don't think Pronto is this fast. I mean this thing is really fast.

Sit in front of your computer (whatever site that shows your tweet feed) send a tweet from the TwitterPeek let your message disappear from the TwitterPeek screen. Put down the Peek and hit refresh on the computer. You won't get the opportunity to hit refresh again, your message will be there.

That's your message hitting Peeks server, then hitting twitter, then hitting a third party like let's say facebook. This thing is fast.

I have to tell you guys. If you use a TwitterPeek you will find that any other method for tweeting on the go is just silly.

I'm going to try someones ubber twitter on a Blackberry, just to see for myself. It can't be better than TwitterPeek.

Ping was my thing, but it simply does not compare.

I'm speaking GUI, the dance you do with your device. TwitterPeek is far better than I thought it would be.

I fixed my problem from earlier. Now I have a new one. I just got my TwitterPeek a couple days ago. Yesterday (Thanksgiving Day) after I sent 5 tweets it would not post any more until after midnight. They showed up under the "My Tweets" tab but never were posted. I even checked it later on the computer. Was that just because the servers were extremely busy with Black Friday? Or is there a limit of 5 tweets a day?

It's been intermittently "dropping" my tweets too... They show up on My Tweets but not online. They're not italics anymore, so they have left the device, but not on the site.

Only for the past 2-3 days... Actually, it just happened a minute ago, so it's not fixed for me :/
