Not sure if it's a common thing but it froze a few times today, had to take out and reinsert battery! Btw, I recently updated to 1.09.18, would that have to do with anything?

Yes, their service has "froze" before. It is a kind of common complaint among some of us when our Peeks seem to stop working for no apparent reason. My wifes did it so often that she gave up and went back to her cell phone. Mine does it as well, but not as bad as hers did. Still hoping Peek fixes the problem or gives me a possible reason for why it happens.

Freezing - it's freezing on this thread!

Anyone have a hypothesis here? Signal strength, Peek doing something in the background like downloading an email so it appears frozen, lots of emails on the Peek.....
How about maybe an email with weird stuff in it like characters etc.?

It's seems isolated as we don't have a slurry of these freezes coming in to the boards or customer care.

Gabe, I've tried and tried to figure it out on my end for the problems I've had. Signal strength is good almost all the time (unless I'm in my office and it does get kind of weak). No clue if it is doing something in the background since it appears to be working fine until I get a nasty phone call from someone asking why I never responded to their e-mail they sent hours earlier. I've tried a few times of completely cleaning out my Peek and still had the same problems. No idea about weird characters either since my e-mail is delayed so long. Never noticed anything odd once the e-mails finally start coming back in.

I was thinking that maybe I'd get better service in Miami when I move there in a few months, but noticed someone else on the boards saying their service was bad there as well. I still have my fingers crossed (even though the other customers on these boards are annoying when you voice a complaint). At least the Peek staff is polite here.

@Eric, why do you have to keep perpetuating your dislike for those that only ask for a specific reason of your complaints? You could have let it drop, but you choose to bring it up again. Were you not happy with name calling and/or labeling (call it whichever makes you feel better)? That last comment to the above post was not necessary..."(even though the other customers on these boards are annoying when you voice a complaint)". So, since you decided to do that, I will again say that you can complain all you want. What I get annoyed about is a complaint with no background. Several of your post were only negative, nothing to explain what got you to that point of your complaint. Several Peek employees have responded to you. Have you gone back and edited your posts? Why not let your displeasure of comments that differ from yours go and I will do the same for your posts?

I will add that my Peek has frozen on several occasions. It usually happens when the battery gets close to draining out and I am either retrieving a long email or trying to delete a large number of them (delete all). I have not had it occur on a full charge or nearly full charge.

@Allen... never once in any of my posts have I asked for the opinion of a fellow customer. I have looked for help from the Peek staff which I have received on several occasions. I am thankful to them for their help. I don't seek help from another customer unless they actually know what they are talking about (which from my experience here, some can't even grasp English).

If you had read my posts then you would know that my problems have been listed out. I don't feel the need or desire to relist them over and over again for the benefit of another customer. If you don't like my posts then by all means feel free to ignore them. I never asked you to read them in the first place. They were meant mostly for the Peek staff. I've also sent e-mails to the Peek staff on occasion for different problems. Do I need to list those here as well? Even when I don't relist my problems, I'm pretty confident that most people can figure out what I'm talking about.

This particular thread had a customer asking if anyone ever experienced their Peeks freezing up. I answered that some of us have and haven't really had a reason for this given by a member of the Peek staff. Gabe posted some weird response but then asked about what we thought the problem could be caused by (which really is something I feel he should be looking into) and I listed my opinion on each of his questions. Got a problem with that? I could give a crap.

It's nice that yours only has it happen when your battery is almost dead. That is not the case for me or my wife. We can be both fully charged, side by side and I send her an e-mail. It leaves my Peek and never arrives on hers. I check her g-mail on my computer and there it sits. We turn hers off and turn it back on and it starts getting e-mails from days before.... I HAVE WRITTEN THIS MANY TIMES..... why am I bothering relisting it to you again... a fellow customer...

@Eric, below you will see a comment you made on the thread "how many of us", You gave a comment, then you had to finish with something sarcastic. Was this solicited by the person that started the thread? No. Was this called for on this thread? No. Will that additional "for now" help anyone fix your problem or does it explain why you included it? No. Was it okay for you to post on a thread? Sure. Did you? Absolutely. So I guess it is okay for you to provide a comment and no one else can? It would seem to be that way.

When you post in a negative comment in public forum and not expect comments, especially when the majority like that product and can use it relatively well, you are kidding yourself. If you want to be able to post in a place that will accept your negative comments without someone questioning you about, start your own forum and only let like-minded people on it.

I have not given an opinion to you comments, I have just asked for backup of you negative comment. Asking a question on how to do something is one thing. Making a negative comment is another. Complain away, but expect responses in a public forum.

I would not have responded at all, but as I said earlier (and you may have missed), you included this phrase "(even though the other customers on these boards are annoying when you voice a complaint)". Why would you do this? Will it help anyone at Peek to fix your problem? No. So what was the reason for that? You will have to tell me that. I would like to know how that comment helped anyone but you.

As far as your ending statement of "At least the Peek staff is polite here.", I would hope that is not directed at me. You, sir, are the one that name called/labeled. Have I done that to you? No. I have been very polite to you and avoided being less than cordial in our back and forth.

I like my Peek. I like the company. Is the product perfect? No. Does it work 100% of the time? No. But that does not mean that I will sit on the sidelines and not say something about your negative comments? I will not.

If you want to complain, lay it out there as to why. That is all I ask. I would think that Peek would want the same thing.

You have a lot of time on your hands. And sarcasm is my nature. Again, if you don't like it, I don't care.

When you post a question in a public forum I guess you can expect someone to post something completely useless and irrelevant as well.(as this thread had with the "mine has frozen twice-i was thinking more of a brain fart : ( the older you get, the more you just stand frozen-wondering why am i here?")

It seems that whenever anyone has a problem with their Peek and asks a question or even states that they are having an issue someone comes in to say something pointless or not pertinent to their topic. Kind of takes that persons complaint and belittles it. That is why I keep talking about the annoying customers who are actually making Peek look bad by blindly defending everything that is wrong with their product or every problem someone encounters. If someone has a question about their service like I did, they should hope for a helpful response from a Peek staff member and possibly a few ideas about what the problem could be from a few customers who had similar issues. They shouldn't have to sift through people saying, "If you don't like it, leave!" or"Mine works fine" or "Hey there fellow customer, I don't have any problems with my service so obviously everything is a-ok with everyone else! So, instead of reading your post, realizing I don't have anything useful to say, I'm going to post something that will detract from your issue and probably result in noone answering your question! Or, I may actually give out incorrect information that makes you make a wrong decision in your purchase."

And if you hadn't noticed, I actually like my Peek. I like the company. Is the product perfect? No... and that is why I post comments on these forums in the hope that they will eventually be able to help me. They've offered their standard, "Restart your Peek" and "How is your t-mobile coverage" responses and neither has helped. I'm still a paying customer. I still would like some assistance FROM THE STAFF AT PEEK! THAT IS ALL!

edit: I'm also finished responding to these posts. While they are a nice bit of entertainment, they are a waste of my time.

I do not have a lot of time on my hands. But what should that matter? What point are you trying to make by starting off with that? Are you inferring some negative idea about me since I post on here to you?

    I am all for sarcasm.

So I will ask again, it is okay for you to post and make comments about things you don't like, PLUS make comments about those that you don't want to post (see you thread about Peek Service Confirmer if you have forgotten)? It started out as a great idea and I actually like it. I would like at times to be able to get something back at regular intervals so I know my Peek is working as it should. But, I did not see how the comments about "FANBOY"s added to it one bit. If anything, you should have expected comments. What was the point for that? If you can make those comments, why would you say others cannot. If there is a group out there that likes the idea, is it okay for those to agree with you? Would that not be comments? Are you saying they cannot post? You can't have it both ways. You don't agree with me and my points, I don't agree with you and your points. So we are at an impasse.

I am sure you are a very nice person and since we do not know each other, our back and forth is missing the inflections that a verbal, face to face conversation would include. After that conversation, we might actually agree about most things.

I am all for helping people with their Peeks. I have signed up with Peek Cables to help upgrade those without cables. I would answer questions if I knew the answers. If I was a friend of someone at Peek, I would personally try to get them to fix your issues. I want all Peeks to work perfect.

    Have a great evening.

I'm closing this thread as it has moved from the initial intent which was to detect a pattern on frozen Peeks.

Couple things on Peek board protocol:
    1) Be nice
    2) This is a public forum and is designed for Peeksters to help each other out as well as interact with Peek HQ. If you post a question on a public forum; guess what, you might get an answer from another Peekster. It may be helpful or it may not. What's important to recognize is that someone is trying to help. That's the whole point whether it's Peek HQ or anybody else. We're all trying to help.
    3) The expectation to use this forum to ONLY get answers from Peek HQ is incorrect. If a Peekster has specific question they want answered call Peek customer care, email care@getpeek.com - you can even email me at gabe@getpeek .c o m and I'll make sure it gets answered.

    Thanks
