For the past several days, whenever I shut off my Peek, a message pops up that I have never seen before. It says: Please bear with us while we tidy up your Peek -- there are some old messages that need a bit of housecleaning!

My trash is empty, so is this about something in the Saved folder? Is there some way I can fix this, since it is happening every single time I turn it off? (It's just a minor annoyance, but if something is funky I'd just as soon resolve it.)

    Thanks!

@Cyn - Well, if your trash is empty.....is your inbox getting pretty full? Or do you keep everything clean for the most part?

Your Peek is most likely deleting emails that are older then 30 days in your inbox. I'd suggest doing this, press B to go to the bottom of your inbox, then use shift + scroll to delete them in chunks of 50, then delete all from trash.

Our new software version will have a "delete all" menu option in the inbox!

Nope, I keep my inbox empty. I have about 20 emails in my Saved folder, that's it.

The only big folder was the Sent folder, and I just emptied that but still got the message when I shut down.

I started experiencing the "Just a minute - Please bear with us while we tidy up..." popup upon pushing the Off button @ night also. I usually have nothing in Trash, nothing in Sent or Inbox folders, only about 4-5 saved messages as I go to shut off. I get the popup message every time I turn off now, and there's nothing to "tidy up", so I'm not sure what my Peek is talking about...ha! It is quite annoying because it never used to do that but like I said, it started a little over a month ago and does it every time now. I just assumed it's some message the server or some software started sending upon shutdown now no matter what's on your Peek and even if there's nothing on your Peek to speak of. Just a standard shutdown warning of some sort perhaps? I liked it better when you pushed the off button and it just said "Goodbye" and turned off.

True this was a bit disconcerting when it first happened, but it's not like when windows is shutting down and you have to wait for it....at least you can let your Peek "tidy up" inside the case! (it'll turn itself off when it's tidy, is what I'm trying to say....)

I just counted and I've got nearly 800 messages in mine -- most in trash, and 6 Gb free memory. This certainly is the first device of this class I've ever seen that comes with far more memory than I'll be likely to ever need. My Dell Mini-9 netbook has 8 Gb solid state disk, too.

Georget: Peeks have approx 8 megs of memory, not gigs.

Re: tmel's "Our new software version will have a "delete all" menu option in the inbox!"

Has that new software version happened yet? I remember that the Peek slow down as my inbox filled was one of the biggest complaints I had against the device (that and the way it paused/was unresponsive at times if (a) new email(s) arrived while you were scrolling through another). Erasing messages was a pretty laborious, ungainly process through my first Peek trial.

But it would appear you're still on 1.09 even now, several months after this thread was last active.

Hasn't 1.09 been around a while? When does the "delete all" happen? Is it implemented yet?

That's great news! Guess I'll have to start thinking about having my [what's now apparently a collector's item] aqua Peek take another vacation to NYC.

Now if it's stopped doing the single-threaded slowdown and the "retrieving more"/"this message is too big to see on your peek" stuff, you've re-converted me. ;) Thanks for the reply. Seriously, that's great news.
