I'm obviously kidding. But apparently the are still selling this thing.

Is this a relevant Peek topic? I think it is because it can give some real context to owning a Peek in general. I believe these guys came up with the idea before Peek. Check the link below to see how it was implemented.

Devices are $49.00 and $99.00 Like Peek more or less. and $19.67 per month if you pay every three months. On par with Peek.....more or less.

(Personally I find it to be hilarious.)

    Oh No!
I'm going through the activation process as if I own one, and they are asking me to set up my email address: my_name@pocketmail.com..............Ahhhhhhh! Ha Ha Ha Haaaaaaaaa!

I'm sorry, I find this very very funny.

They say it's easy as 1-2-3 LOL!

    Watch the video: http://www.pocketmail.com/flash/tutorial/

Anyone remember that old TV show Get Smart? Remember the shoe phone? LOL ...Watch the video.

Then let me hear your complaints about the Peek again.........LMFAO!

Listen everyone. You may not agree with this, and I can understand that. But as long as the PocketMail is on the market, I can not agree with a single complaint about the Peek Mobile Email Device. That includes all complaints known and unknown to me at this time....I'm sorry, but I just can't.........Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!

If you look on Wikipedia, apparently they've been around since 1995, and their popularity peaked in 2000.

Yes I know. I remember them. But I can't believe they are still selling it. I just find it so tears in my eyes funny, really. I guess I'm weird.

    Wow!

I really like the "Is PocketMail right for you?" section.

The whole "E-Mail Delivery" section at the bottom explains why you wouldn't want it. Wouldn't you rather have "Dial-Up at Your Convenience" than "Wireless "Always-On" (subject to coverage)"??? Haha.

Peek, I suggest you email them to get on their comparison page.

But, I think they really have the mobile business market in their Pocket, check out that happy construction worker http://www.pocketmail.com/us/products/mobile_applications/

    ...

OK everyone. Enough with the joking. PocketMail is serious technology. It's NASA technology and one of the smartest presidents ever supports it. http://www.pocketmail.com/us/corporate/nasa_connection/

Yeah...but the thing is, I would never want to be caught dead with one of those "PocketMail Devices" on my person!

Dead with PocketMail = Woah, wtf is that thing?? This guy must have been a weirdo, let's just leave him here and not tell anyone.

Dead with Peek = Woah this guy has a Peek! That's pretty cool, let's steal his Peek and then tell the cops that we found him dead.

    From Wikipedia

In Australia, the company known as "Pocketmail" has since stopped marketing the pocketmail technology, and now owns uranium mining prospects in Queensland and South Australia.

How does one go from a pocket email device to uranium mining? lol!

Maybe we could incorporate a small pick axe into the Peek!

@Tom Yeah, but then you'd have to call it a Poke instead.

@srandallthomas - Gotta give props to the Ogo - 5 years ago, it came close to what a Peek does today at a similar per month amount and offered IM (even though the screen and design were lousy)

I hate to admit that as recently as a few years ago, I was a proud Pocketmail owner and loved using the device. This post brought a smile to my face and made me think back to how many times I had to explain to people what the strange device I was holding up to the phone was. :-) It was also a source of jokes with my tech-savvy friends.

Alas, I retired my Pocketmail device and have since "upgraded" to a Peek, which I absolutely love.

Well, this just makes me think of TTY or baudot transmissions. Anyone use packet radio? :) I don't understand why someone would get one of these devices... However, could they be adapted to transmit without using the service provided by PocketScience? In otherwords, very cheap modems with an acoustic coupler...

    Now that's hardcore! :)

I too had PocketMail early on. It was a cleverly cool, well-made device...quite James Bond-ish. With an international calling card I checked my email on a European vacation. The bit with the pay phones was a bit of a drag, however, but a head-turner, nonetheless. Glad to see they're still around.

Haven't looked at the Peek boards for awhile but thought I'd add my two cents. I know I've suggested that some Pocketmail related features be incorporated into the Peek, specifically the larger display and keyboard for those who are vision and motor challenged. Also, can't help but say that my parents used their Pocketmail all over the country in their travels needing only their Pocketmail device and a phone connection. The Peek falls far short of this capability because of limited coverage areas.

Remember the Motorola Talkabout T900? or the P935?
I have a lot of deaf customers, and they *almost* talked me into getting one of these, but I went for a Sidekick instead. (Sidekick has since kicked it....hahaha)
