As much as I love my Peek, I've been using it less lately. Two reasons:

    * I get a lot of SPAM -- I've got a system of filters on my home machine that reduces it to a manageable level, but none of those filters work on the Peek, of course, since the filtering happens on my home PC.

    * I see my email twice -- once at home and once on the Peek. It would be nice if the Peek never downloaded email that my home machine has already downloaded (but not necessarily vice versa).

Am I just not using the Peek correctly? Are there some secret settings I can modify to change the way the Peek behaves? Are there other ways I can use the Peek (or the email program I have at home -- Eudora, FYI) to get the behavior I want?

Any hints, tips, etc., greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Peek just pulls your mail and saves a copy for remote viewing. It's not going to remove your mail from your inbox so it can't be seen by other means (afterall html mail that makes it through couldn't be seen)

@Genie101 You might consider changing your email service to one which has better spam control.

I wish Peek provided a web app that we could set filters on mail. Not so much for SPAM, but for instance when getting deal type emails that just have images or pictures. These are usualy all from the same sender, so we could filter it out.

I also wish I could filter by time of day. I don't want to receive work emails while at work. The only good this does is allows me to search those emails when I'm not there.

Having too much email. I just reached approx 1000+ emails on mine and I am noticing a major lag with how the system works. The interface gets hung alot. I went through and deleted a good amount, and it did better, but then I got tons today and starting to slow down again. I'm curious to reset it and see if it speeds up alot, but I'd rather not. Does anyone know if this is a known issue? I also thought it was weird that when I deleted those, my memory didn't clear up.

@impel - Your Peek can tend to become a little bit unresponsive at times when either its trash folder or inbox begin to bulge. Main reason for this, is because your Peek will try the oldest delete emails itself if it begins to run low on space. When a Peek gets full, like your home computer is full, it doesn’t perform as quickly. We’re constantly working on improving the email experience on the Peek to make it faster even when it’s full.

Best thing to do is just to select delete all from your trash folder and clean it up a bit!

@Genie01 - Which email provider are you using? As you know, the Peek will only get emails from your inbox. What can happen though, is that *before* the email is filtered, it'll hit your inbox and our servers will grab it.

If you're getting a lot of spam, I'd suggest creating some aliases within your account, should you be able to. That way, you can create genie01spam@whatever.com, and use that address to sign up for things instead of your main address etc.
